YTU and YTU Yıldız Technopark Strengthen Global Connections in Dubai

A delegation from YTU, including YTU Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, YTU Yıldız Technopark General Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Garip, YTU Yıldız Technopark Vice Chairman and YTU Civil Engineering Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Demir, and YTU Yıldız Technopark Deputy General Manager İsa Turgut İnci, conducted a series of important meetings in Dubai.

Meeting with Türkiye’s Consul General in Dubai

The first stop of the visit was a meeting with Türkiye’s Consul General in Dubai, Mr. Onur Şaylan. During the discussion, topics such as strengthening relations between Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates, expanding the university’s international activities, and increasing the presence of YTU graduates in the business world were addressed.

Academic Collaboration with Dubai University

The delegation then met with Dubai University Rector Dr. Essa Mohammed Bastaki, accompanied by Consul General Onur Şaylan. The meeting focused on academic collaboration, joint projects, and supporting scientific research between the two universities. Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik highlighted the importance of global academic partnerships, saying:

“As YTU, one of our main goals is to develop academic and scientific collaborations on an international scale. We believe that joint efforts with Dubai University will strengthen academic ties between our countries.”

Networking and Collaboration with Technopark Companies

As part of the visit to enhance YTU and YTU Yıldız Technopark’s international activities, a networking event was held at YTU Yıldız Technopark’s Dubai office. The event brought together Turkish business representatives in Dubai and YTU alumni, enabling the establishment of strong connections in the business world. Discussions focused on the Dubai market and global business opportunities.

Strong Ties with Yıldız Alumni in Dubai

The program continued with an event celebrating the achievements of YTU alumni and strengthening the university’s global network. The event was attended by Türkiye’s Consul General in Dubai Onur Şaylan, Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, YTU Yıldız Technopark Vice Chairman Prof. Dr. Ahmet Demir, General Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Garip, Dubai Operations Manager Feryal Mahmut, and many YTU alumni.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik said:

By strengthening these bonds, we provide opportunities for our alumni to share their knowledge and experiences with young talents. Our Starcamp office in Dubai is a significant success story in entrepreneurship and innovation on an international level. Through such activities, our university will continue to support the achievements of our alumni and foster scientific collaborations.”

General Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Garip emphasized the importance of international activities, saying:

Our Dubai office enables us to establish strong collaborations with Turkish and international companies in the region. Together with our partners, we will continue to grow internationally and provide sustainable solutions.”

The event also featured comments from Consulate staff, who highlighted YTU’s international achievements and expressed their commitment to supporting Turkish companies in Dubai.

During the “Gulf Alumni Activities Presentation,” Erkan Gülmez detailed alumni projects, showcasing their impact and emerging opportunities in the region.

The event concluded with alumni receiving participation certificates, followed by a group photo and a networking session. During the session, alumni and business representatives discussed future collaboration opportunities.

Visits to Key Events in Abu Dhabi

Following the networking event, the delegation participated in significant visits over two days. Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Demir, and İsa Turgut İnci attended the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, a leading international event focused on accelerating sustainability and the clean energy transition.
