Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik

Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik was born in 1966 in Karaman, Turkey. He graduated from the Department of Environmental Engineering at Istanbul Technical University’s Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1992. He completed his master’s degree in 1995 and his PhD in 1999 at Yıldız Technical University’s Graduate School of Science and Engineering, specializing in Environmental Engineering.

During his master’s and doctoral studies, Prof. Debik focused on water and wastewater treatment. From 2002 to 2004, he conducted research on anaerobic wastewater treatment as a visiting professor at Iowa State University in the United States.

In 2000, Prof. Debik was appointed as an Assistant Professor in Yıldız Technical University’s Department of Environmental Engineering. He earned the title of Associate Professor on April 26, 2010, and full Professor on September 14, 2015. Throughout his academic career, he has played a significant role in training many scholars in the field of environmental engineering. He has held numerous administrative positions, including Vice Chair of the Department of Environmental Engineering (2006-2008, 2011-2014), Member of the Faculty Board and Faculty Executive Board (2007-2010), Advisor to the Rector (2008-2016), Director of the Vocational School (2014-2020), Director of the Vocational Education Application and Research Center, and Chairman of the Board of Yıldız Technology Transfer Office Inc.

Between 2009 and 2011, Prof. Debik served as a consultant to the General Secretary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and from 2013 to 2015, he conducted scientific research as part of the Ergene Basin Action Plan.

With over 100 national and international publications, book authorship, and numerous patents and utility models to his name, Prof. Debik has also been involved in many national and international projects as a principal investigator and researcher.

Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik was appointed as the Rector of Yıldız Technical University by a decree of the Turkish Presidency, dated September 20, 2024, numbered 2024/337. He is married with three children and is fluent in English.
