Prof. Dr. Mesut GÜNER

Prof. Dr. Mesut GÜNER received his bachelor's degree from the Department of Naval Architecture at the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Enginnering, Istanbul Technical University, in 1988. In 1989, he earned his master's degree from Newcastle University in the United Kingdom, where he also completed his PhD in 1994. He began his academic career as an assistant professor at Yıldız Technical University and was promoted to full professor in 2001 in the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the same university.

Prof. Dr. Güner has played significant roles as a coordinator and consultant in various industrial projects and has also served as a board member in several companies. He has held numerous key positions, including full membership in the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), vice-rectorship, founding rector of a  university, technology transfer office coordinator, senator, and member of the university's board of directors.

Between 2016 and 2020, Prof. Dr. Güner served as the general manager and board member of Yıldız Teknopark A.Ş. From 2016 to 2022, he led the external evaluation of various universities as a team leader within the scope of YÖKAK. Between 2021 and 2022, he was the chairman of the board of directors of Ankara University Technopolis. From 2022 to 2024, he served as the Rector of Alanya University. In September 2024, Prof. Dr. Güner was appointed as Vice President of TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye).
