VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Prof. Dr. Ahmet DEMİR was born in 1959 in Ulubey, Uşak. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1981. In 1983, he began his academic career as a Research Assistant at Yıldız Technical University (YTU) in the Civil Engineering Department. That same year, he started his postgraduate studies in the Water-Environment Program at YTU Institute of Science and Technology, from which he earned his master’s degree in 1985 and his Ph.D. in Engineering in 1990. Between 1988 and 1989, he attended the I.H.E. (MS. Sanitary Engineering) course in Delft, Netherlands.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet DEMİR served as an Assistant Professor at YTU Environmental Engineering Department from 1991 to 1996, and as an Associate Professor from 1996 to 2002. Since 2002, he has been serving as a professor in the same department. From 2006 to 2008, he held the position of Head of the Environmental Engineering Department at YTU, and from 2008 to 2010, as well as 2014 to 2016, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at YTU. He also served as General Manager of ISKI (Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration) from 2010 to 2014. Currently, Prof. DEMİR continues his academic career at YTU Faculty of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering Department. He has numerous national and international publications, presentations, and projects, and is married with two children.
